I too have had this headcanon for the longest. It would make sense too being as desperate and power hungry as he was
Im actually glad amano’s starting out anew. I think this is what she’s really wanted to do for the longest time and in retrospect it shows. A lot of people were kind of butthurt that amano’s new oneshot was not about a khr continuation and quite frankly Im fine with that. I think amano was long tired of khr even before it had ended really. Her declining interest in the series showed itself through both her writing and the quality of her art. I personally don’t think she’d ever be interested in it’s continuation of any kind, especially with the way khr had ended. There’d be no way she’d be able to recover the series from that-(unless she re-wrote the series over in it’s entirety. :/

Amano was getting pretty bored with khr and everything, you could tell she didn’t liked her own manga like she did at the beginnig of its serialization.
She was getting too stressed out maybe??? However I think it’s ok leaving the things as they are now, bringing reborn back would be pointless and useless :/
You could tell there that as the story went on, she started disliking her series. especially looking at how little she developed her characters and and how shitty the art became near the end. I don’t blame her though-especially with JUMPS shitty standards and pressure :/

Somehow I get the feeling it would cause her more stress. I mean Seinen is mostly focused on storyline and character development. Although she kind of has the character development covered I’m a bit worried about the story telling. I’m probably reading too much into it lol. Though I do find it ironic considering she did the artwork for psycho pass which is somewhat linked with the whole detective thing. Psycho pass may have been some sort of inspiration for her to improve her storytelling. Considering it’s one shot she probably has a new editor so maybe things may change for the better or worse..I would certainly hope so. Im kinda so so as to regarding reading her next work. I was so fucking frustrated with KHR and it’s lack of nearly everything and she’s burned so many bridges with me and such. Although however her going back to her roots with writing seinen can be a great thing for her however. Since seinen revolves around more composed storytelling and character development it can give her more time to plan her story out and actually develop her characters fully. With shonen especially shonen jump there’s a lot more pressure, especially with publishing a weekly manga and such. Plus a lot of jump series tend to suffer from the same but not as bad issues as amano had with writing khr. Seinen is less competition since the audience is more mature and she won’t have to worry about having to jack up her plot to the nines to have to skip over “touchy” and jump’s censoring. She won’t have to be under the pressure to constantly revise her manga to appeal to jumps standards or pander to an overbearing yaoi fanbase. She should be able to write more smoothly..
Hm, makes sense. Though in my opinion she might have to start from scratch with her fanbase. From what I can see, our protagonist is a female and a male (for some reason some of the fandom seems to get butt hurt over). The majority of the fanbase focuses more on yaoi innuendos than the actual story because honestly, there wouldn’t even be much a fanbase if it were strictly about the story. I mean come on just from a few posts about the one shot people completely dismiss it and want Khr back. Yea the ending was pure BS but that doesn’t mean she’ll continue it and it’s not the first shonen to go out like that. Second no one ever even mentioned it being a continuation of Khr. Not only that, that’s a rumor of it’s own, completely different from the one shot.
The thing about Khr though is that the readers themselves had to fill these plotholes in khr. Though there were some that could never be filled. It’s enjoyable to make these headcanons and it would have been ok if there weren’t so many. The pros about this one shot if successful are the battles that might not be there. Because honestly there are some fights that were shown but at the same time weren’t. Even though Squalo lost to Zakuro I would have loved seeing the fight. Byakuran and Mukuro is another. Another thing is the development of characters, I won’t be surprised if she doesn’t have as much characters as she did with khr which is probably what got the story all jumbled up. I was looking forward to Dino’s and Squalo’s relationship.
Overall I have some hope this might actually work out for her.
about the whole plot holes in khr, fan headcanons or not, she did a poor job of properly executing the simple development of plot/story and characters. It’s not the fans job to fill in every single plot hole or writing error with their own personal headcanons; if thats the case she might as have done the andrew hussie and let fans inject their own canon into the story or just not have written khr altogether.Looking back though I definitely agree about the whole khr fanbase. I really hate the khr fanbase largely because of that. Everything must revolve around yaoi, and romance. If anything I applaud amano for trying to get away from that image and that fanbase, because although I like bl and such; it gets really irritating seeing it everywhere nowadays. And especially making a series out to be about nothing more than shipping. People are actually getting butthurt over her decision to have a male and female protagonist? I applaud her even more for that! For once she’s (hopefully) giving her female character a chance to shine and be strong.
Although Im still undecided Im now somewhat looking forward to reading her new one-shot. People still hung up over khr need to seriously get over it already. It’s not coming back and I personally don’t look forward to it’s comeback either. (The ending entirely ruined the series for me) KHR was shonen and I highly doubt that she would just switch over from shonen to seinen like that-especially with it’s appeal to younger readers.
looking back now, I really think amano got burned out from khr. she probly got tired from all the stress or writing a series along with JUMPS standards and their competition.
